Free writing class's at uni

During Life After College i put my name down for the academic writing classes and i can say truthfully Thank god i did, i learnt so much in the sessions we had simple things that you forget easily and complicated things explained.

We learnt how to quote correctly and about paraphrasing, we also learnt a lot about Introduction and how you don't give everything away at first just sum up the essay whats its about in points such as firstly, secondly, thirdly etc..
Apparently 10% of your body text of words should be the size of your introduction i think i just achieved this. The lady pointed out a lot of key points such as don't repeat yourself, make a point and move on, use triangulation. She also pointed out to sum up each chapter with a small conclusion showing what you've have talked about and what the outcome is but remember to save the big conclusion for the end showing what the main point of the essay is which if course you need to remember through out that the point of the essay is the title you choose, she told us to refer back to the title if we felt like we were going off topic or getting lost, i found myself listening to this advice a lot and doing this regularly to keep on track, if i hadn't of gone i would have missed including many things in my dissertation.

Heres some of my notes from the lessons -
