I started toon shading the environment and prop's only to change to UVmapping

Matt suggested toon shading as an option instead of uv mapping and initially i was going to do this as i thought it would look very cartoony which is good and exactly what we want so i started to give it a go, but matt didn't have time to show me much and how to do it properly so i struggled a lot trying to figure out how it worked and i thought to myself i don't have time to be trying to learn something new i dont know how to do so i went back to uv mapping.
Here's just some screenshots of me trying to work it out, i'm defiantly gonna check out some tutorials online or ask matt how to do it as i think it ill be a neat little trick to learn if i ever want to save time in the future.

tip - if you can't see the shading propley toggle with these buttons

annabeth showed me how to uv map better with a checkered texture that way you can line up the squares and lines to make it more neater to uv map in future.

She also introduced me to the idea of painting my own textures in which would also make it look very cartoony, so she quickly ran me through a refresh of how to do it.
She also taught me which mapping to use i.e -
planar mapping
cylindrical mapping
spherical mapping
with different shapes you should use the right mapping tool to stretch out the uv map, this makes it much easier when using shapes such as spheres and circles, instead of having to cut the uv edges and unfold the seams we can easily select one of the other two depending on the shape and it will make it much easier to understand when it folds it out :)

note to self - make sure its the right size -

my first attempt at this went perfectly! and i found it very easy and fast :D

Here's a rendered image of what it will look like in our animation it's cartoony ans looks really good, i'm very happy with the final outcome and the techniques used.

cylindrical mapping -as you can see much easier to understand where everything is.

note to self - the colours do not stand for inside and outside shapes like the colours blue and red normally do it stands for the uv's so if i'm ever confused just turn the uv shader off.

this is what happened with the confusion of the uv shader i only painted half, getting there though

as my barrel looked better i tried different colours and added an eye thing( dunno what they are really called) to the side you know where the water or whatever comes out but it looked a bit out of place, so i took it out.

uno barrel!

So yeah overall will come back to toon shading, shame i didn't know it even existed until the second to last week.
