enter small festivals and competitions, internships. there's loads out there.
figure out your place, where you wana be e.g - post production, set design, etc etc.
put his work down a lot but i could see he had come a long way. even though he lacked a little confidence, did stuff for channel 4. did vis com at uni.
illustration agents, check if there are other agents out there for different things environment etc...

read and listen to contracts to protect yourself.
find a commercial style to make money? - like his cath kiddson phone cover.
travel round drawing, painting hotels, living out of a backpack.
use twitter find other freelance people in your genre or different to collaborate and swap work.
always try and be playful dont just sit at your computer. for example find things that you can do randomly, logs, put face's on them.
think outside the box - a cap, stick match's on it to make something else.
learn how to make contracts.
if someone contacts you and doesn't have a clear structure it can be risky and not enjoyable.

hardly any of the class will probs get jobs the thing to do is though. not give up. keep working and working even if it's crap. don't give up. mix it up.
