-level design skyrim

I found a fantastic website that goes greatly into detail on designing levels in skyrim and such the principles behind it and how to go about it. Check it out if gave a great deal of interesting information from asset props to the way in which a level should be set out so it's not too confusing and such.

Skyrim came to mind straight away as it's an open world game and heck there's a lot of world to explore. I've been playing the Elderscrolls since Morrowind and completely fell in love and immersed myself in the story and the land. I find that Bethesda has a wonderful balance of story telling, characters you get attached too or hate! And that fantastic scenery that can't be beaten (in my opinion) by any other game. Several times i've been playing Skyrim and the game mechanics such as sound lighting and animation come together to create a spectacular moment just for you at that time... and then it's gone. I can remember this happening when i was climbing up to the Throat of the World. At one point it was just completely stunning and i stopped the game just to take a picture of it :) That's what i hope to make someone do one day.
Any way getting of topic there but what i've taken from Skyrim is the way in which things are positioned everything looks like it fits and as long as i can get this in my scenery and there's not too many gaps then it will look fine. Obviously i dont have enough skill and a top of the range game engine to create such graphics but i can try :P

Waterfall's are pretty, gonna put one or possibly two in my scene i think then i will create the same particles at the bottom of the waterfall to create splash back so it looks more realistic like in the picture below

Fog is a must for any scene with mountain ranges, there's a fog one in unity and i have used it lately so gonna ut that in too.

These tree's to me below look like they've just been spread everywhere, for me this ruins the view and depicts away from the main part which i think is the mountain the background  Most landscapes focus on one main point which the eyes go to first.

beautiful tree.

again, all about the fog and lighting! it just makes it.

Annabeth told me to look at mod's too, it's not about you making them but getting a feel for where things should go, the scenography of it, over summer i aim to try this and get better.
